Remote K-5th Nature-Based Educator — Part-Time (Origins Curriculum)
Please pay attention to the "To Apply" section below. Applications that do not follow the instructions will not be considered.
About Origins
Origins Curriculum is the world’s first conscious curriculum: a research-based, standards-backed K-5 program that weaves mindfulness, eco-literacy, and academic rigor into every lesson. Rather than separating subjects, Origins grows reading, math, science, and personal growth out of the living world each student is studying, through a virtual journey around the world’s five global biomes.
Traditional education asks children to sit still, memorize, and comply, and when that one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for them, they get labeled as behavior issues. Origins was built to lift children up and bring back their confidence, their spark, and their love of learning. We move away from systems rooted in hierarchy and compliance, toward learning rooted in relationship, reciprocity, and the many ways of knowing held by cultures around the world.
The Curriculum That Returns Us to Our Roots
Origins is a research-based, year-round curriculum for schools and families, designed to reawaken children's innate connection with the natural world through engaging, play-based, exploratory activities.
The role
We're a growing company, and we’re hiring part-time online teachers to work mainly one-on-one with K-5 homeschool students, with some small group classes and live calls. You’ll work with Origins families learning with our full curriculum, and with families using their own curriculum who come to us for teaching support. We’re looking for teachers in:
- Reading and writing
- Math
- Science
- Social studies
- World languages (multilingual teachers especially welcome)
- Art
- Music
Many of our families have children with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and other neurodivergent learning profiles. Experience supporting these learners is strongly preferred.
What you’ll do
- Teach live one-on-one sessions on Zoom, plus small group classes and live calls as they open up
- Find each child’s sweet spot in your subject: challenging them just enough to push their growth edges, without being so hard it discourages them or so easy they get bored
- Bring nature connection, eco-literacy, and mindfulness into everything you teach
- Build real relationships with returning students over time
- For some teachers: conduct grade-level assessments for new students so we can build their learning roadmap
Schedule
You set your own availability calendar and families book into it. We ask that you keep a consistent schedule through at least one semester so students can build continuity with you.
Pay & growth
$26/hour to start, with a pay raise at 90 days. As Origins grows, this can grow into significantly more hours. We’re building for the long term and want the right people growing with us.
Start date
We’re hiring now. You must be ready to start onboarding the week of October 26.
Training & certification
Every Origins teacher completes our Eco-Educator Certification, a $599 value included at no cost. You’ll complete the core lessons before your first session and the rest within your first 30 days. The certification gives you the tools to weave eco-literacy, mindfulness, and global sustainability into your teaching, along with conscious communication, trauma-informed practices, emotional resilience, and holistic education models. It’s a credential that benefits you well beyond this role.
What we’re looking for
- A teaching degree, required for all subjects except art and music (Masters preferred)
- Art and music teachers: a teaching degree is welcome but not required; substantial experience teaching children ages Preschool - 5th grade
- Experience in or desire to learn about nature-based education: outdoor or environmental education, forest school, garden programs, or similar
- Fluency in any language you’d teach; multiple languages a plus
- Experience with dyslexia, dyscalculia, or neurodivergent learners strongly preferred
- Experience assessing students’ academic levels a plus
- Comfortable teaching ages K-5 online, one-on-one and in small groups
- Reliable internet, a quiet workspace, and comfort with Zoom
