Art of Dance Studio is hiring experienced dance instructors who bring strong ballet knowledge, positive classroom management, and dependable work habits to a welcoming, recreational dance program.
We teach dancers ages 3–15, helping them develop dance skills, confidence, character, and self-respect. Our studio offers a supportive team, a close-knit family environment, and creative freedom within established studio procedures.
We are hiring for two separate positions. Applicants may apply for either schedule or both.
Available schedules
Monday/Wednesday Instructor — 8 hours per week
- Monday: 3:00–7:30 p.m.
- Wednesday: 4:00–7:30 p.m.
Saturday Instructor — 5.5 hours per week
- Saturday: 9:45 a.m.–3:15 p.m.
These shifts include opening, class preparation, teaching, cleaning, and closing. All scheduled studio shift hours are paid at $20 per hour. Additional availability is required for scheduled rehearsals, performances, meetings, and studio events.
About the role
This position combines dance instruction with hands-on studio support. Each class currently has one instructor, so candidates must be comfortable independently teaching large groups, managing transitions, and maintaining a safe, organized classroom.
You will take ownership of your assigned shift, completing established routines without repeated reminders. The director will initially be present as you learn our operations, with the goal of preparing you to run your assigned studio shifts independently.
Responsibilities
- Teach primarily ballet, along with tap and jazz, to dancers ages 3–15.
- Lead classes independently and assist other instructors when assigned.
- Create age-appropriate lesson plans, prepare class music, and choreograph and teach performance routines.
- Adapt instruction for dancers with different experience levels while keeping the full class engaged.
- Use patient, encouraging classroom management and maintain professional boundaries.
- Follow studio procedures for welcoming dancers, daily affirmations, attendance, class transitions, and dismissal.
- Help new and trial dancers feel included and comfortable.
- Start and end classes on time.
- Open the studio and prepare music, name tags, roll sheets, equipment, and teaching materials before families arrive.
- Complete assigned cleaning before and after classes, including classrooms, lobby, bathrooms, cubbies, mirrors, windows, and floors.
- Keep personal belongings and studio supplies neatly stored and complete closing procedures.
- Communicate professionally and protect dancer, family, and studio confidentiality.
- Participate in required rehearsals, performances, staff meetings, and scheduled studio activities.
As the role develops, responsibilities will also include calls, texts, emails, and enrollment follow-ups during designated time outside teaching.
Required qualifications
- At least two years of verifiable experience teaching children in a dance studio, with experience relevant to the ages served.
- Extensive classical ballet training and strong knowledge of ballet technique.
- Previous teaching experience in ballet, tap, and jazz, with training in tap and jazz.
- Experience creating choreography, teaching performance routines, developing lesson plans, and selecting appropriate class music.
- Demonstrated ability to teach large groups and dancers with different skill levels.
- Strong classroom management, organization, time management, and communication skills.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and dependable transportation.
- Willingness to clean and take responsibility for daily studio operations.
- Ability to follow established procedures, accept feedback, and work independently.
- Basic administrative and computer skills, with willingness to learn studio systems.
Applicants must provide verifiable teaching references from a currently operating dance studio. Candidates should be ready to teach independently; this is not an entry-level instructor-training position. Orientation will cover our studio procedures, expectations, and systems.

This year-round role includes required participation in scheduled events and related preparation, including:
- Annual Spring Recital and rehearsals
- Summer Intensive
- Annual Community Performance

Our work environment
We offer a positive, supportive studio culture where instructors can bring creativity to their teaching without constant oversight. We value warmth, professionalism, initiative, and teamwork—and we expect the same care for our studio space as we give our dancers.
