SMARTS, Students Motivated by the Arts is searching for enthusiastic fine arts teachers for PK-12 students. Teachers will have the opportunity to teach applied classes in their area of expertise as well as be trained to teach in any of the following programs:
Arts Integration, Early SMARTS (PK), and Beats and Empowers (special education)
We are searching for teachers with after school availability (4-7 pm) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and morning (10 am - 1 pm) on Saturdays. For additional information, feel free to contact us at 330-574-2787(ARTS).
SMARTS is a community-based art school that seeks to motivate students to succeed in all areas of life by teaching them the discipline and focus that creating art takes. SMARTS offers classes in visual arts, music, dance, theater, and creative writing.
SMARTS Mission: SMARTS community art school provides access and early training in the arts for our region's K-12 youth with a focus on underserved populations. SMARTS engages public and private organizations, schools, and artists in cooperative projects designed to enrich our community, promote student achievement, inspire self-discovery, and impact cultural and academic literacy through fine and performing arts.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- working towards or hold at a minimum of a B.S., B.A., or a B.F.A. in an applied arts field OR equivalent experience
- have and/or can pass a current FBI/BCI background check
- design and execute a creative curriculum that follows the Ohio State Standards
- keep all supplies and equipment in good working order
- be organized and prepared ahead for classes
- have a passion for teaching the arts to students of all ages
- flexible and open-minded to new ideas and situations
- remain in constant communication with SMARTS Programming Managers/Education Director
- be punctual, responsible, and reliable
Preferred Qualifications:
- previous experience working with PK-12 students
- previous experience working with students with special needs
- professional experience in an art-related field is preferred
- have excellent classroom management skills

Hourly: $15.00 to $30.00/hour
