Job Overview
The Worship Assistant is responsible for aiding the Worship Director in musical rehearsals and worship organization. The worship assistant will be responsible for accompanying all Chancel Choir rehearsals and the choir during Sunday morning worship. The worship assistant will also cultivate, direct and educate the Children’s Choir. They will assist in worship organization by overseeing the special worship orders of flowers, and the parament changes in the sanctuary. When the Worship Director is on vacation or professional development, the worship assistant will serve as the substitute organist and/or pianist. He/she will aid in recruitment for musical participation in all musical groups of Christ Church
Qualifications
- Formal music training, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Prior church experience
- Strong piano skills (organ skills are a plus)
- Choral conducting experience
- Strong sightreading skills
- Ability to play open score parts
- Ability to relate well with people of diverse ages
- Faith in God and dedication to the mission of Christ Church
Major Responsibilities
- Accompany Chancel Choir rehearsals and Sunday morning services
- Lead the Children’s Choir
- Assist in the Praise service when needed
- Serve as substitute organist/pianist when the Worship Director is gone
- Oversee special floral worship orders
- Oversee parament changes in the sanctuary
- Encourage musical participation throughout the church
- Recruit musical group membership
- Assist in music catalogue organization
- Timely communication with the staff of Christ Church
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Worship Director
