Job SummaryThe PT Director-Mariachi will recruit players and manage the Mariachi Ensemble. |Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Music with strong proficiency
- Professional performance experience
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a closely related field OR demonstrated professional competency and experience in directing and performing with Mariachi ensembles
- Studio or classroom experience as appropriate
Essential Functions- Recruiting members for Mariachi Ensemble
- Planning and organizing performances at community and campus events
- Evaluating musical talent for the purpose of forming a Mariachi band at MC
- Evaluating and awarding scholarships to prospective applicants
- Providing leadership and oversight of the Ensemble members
- Overseeing the use of facilities, performances, and department advertising
- Promoting stewardship over and maintenance of or repair of instruments
- Coordinating with Public Relations regarding events (on/off campus)
Physical Demands- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
- The person in this position frequently communicates with others verbally and electronically; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Frequently moves boxes or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
