Job DescriptionThe Department of Music and Drama at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for Lecturer of Piano position, starting in Fall 2025. We are seeking a full-time, Non-tenure track (NTT) member committed to excellence in undergraduate education.
Responsibilities:- Instructs students in applied piano lessons and functional piano classes.
- Instructs Sight Singing & Ear Training courses.
- Accompanies students and faculty in recitals.
- Communicates course progress to students promptly.
- Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:- Master's Degree in piano performance/pedagogy.
- One year of teaching in higher education.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Proficient in classical music.
- Proficient in word processing and presenting in software, internet and e-mail.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a various group of students.
Preferred Qualifications:- Doctoral degree in Piano Performance/Pedagogy.
- Two years of teaching experience.
- Proficiency in other styles of music such as gospel and jazz is highly desirable.
