DescriptionThe Department of Performing Arts at Clemson University seeks an outstanding Lecturer of Audio Technology to begin
January 1, 2026. This is a 9-month faculty position that will hold the academic rank of full-time Lecturer.
Responsibilities include teaching courses in live sound reinforcement, Front of House equipment and setup, and live recording techniques. Experience recording live concerts, classical and choir ensembles is essential. May include teaching in a secondary area, such as studio recording or audio practicums dependent upon candidate qualifications and department need. The successful candidate will participate fully in departmental activities including recruiting, advising, auditions, attending recitals, concerts, and recruiting events, and working collaboratively with faculty members from the music and theatre areas in the Performing Arts major.
The Performing Arts degree at Clemson University is a nationally distinctive degree that integrates the technology, performance, production, theory, and history of the performing arts into a unified program of study that prepares students for careers in many aspects of the arts including theatre, music and audio technology. The Department of Performing Arts occupies the Robert Howell Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. The Brooks Center is an 87,000 square foot educational/performance building that includes classrooms, rehearsal halls, offices, and supporting spaces.
QualificationsHands-on industry experience in Sound Recording, Music Technology, Live Sound, Sound Reinforcement, or a related field.
MFA or similar degree preferred, though an established record of professional experience and accomplishments can be considered in lieu of degree.
Familiar with all aspects of Live Sound reinforcement
Consoles: analog and digital, FOH and monitors
Live micing technique
System design and setup
PA systems, speaker management systems
Live recording
Dante networking
All applicants must have knowledge and experience recording contemporary music, classical ensembles and live concerts, strong leadership skills, and a demonstrated ability and desire to instruct undergraduate students. Additional qualifications are valued: teaching experience at the college level or equivalent professional experience; demonstrated commitment to student recruitment.
