Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Audio Engineer who will also be responsible for transporting production equipment. This role requires a professional who can handle both the technical demands of live sound production and the logistical responsibilities of driving a company production van. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and experienced in live event sound reinforcement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely drive the production van from the warehouse to event locations and back.
- Load and unload audio equipment, ensuring all gear is secured and handled properly.
- Set up sound systems, including PA, stage monitors, microphones, and backline connections.
- Conduct sound checks and mix live audio for bands, performers, and/or speakers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently during events.
- Break down and pack audio equipment after the event, maintaining organization and care.
- Return equipment to the warehouse, unload, and properly store all gear.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and basic upkeep of the production van and equipment.
- Communicate with production manager, artists, and clients in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a live sound engineer (FOH and/or monitors). 1 year minimum.
- Ability to operate analog and digital mixing consoles, signal processors, and PA systems.
- Strong understanding of audio signal flow, stage patching, and troubleshooting.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (commercial license a plus but not required).
- Ability to drive large cargo vans safely.
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs of equipment.
- Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
Preferred:
- Experience mixing multiple music genres.
- Familiarity with lighting or video systems (a plus but not required).
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
Compensation:
Pay is on an event-to-event basis as a freelance contractor (all offers optional), with the opportunity for added bonuses on an event-to-event basis.
