Job Summary:
The Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Minot State University invites applicants for the position of Director of Bands and Music Education. The successful candidate will specialize in music education, direct MSU's concert and marching bands, and advise music education students, beginning Fall Semester 2026. This is a tenure-track position appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Candidates will be expected to:
- Direct the MSU Band Program including leading the MSU Marching Band, Concert Band, and Athletic Pep-Band.
- Take a leading role in recruiting instrumental music students to MSU
- Teach music education courses and supervise student teachers
- Maintain a high level of professional visibility and serve as a resource for regional public school music educators
- Teach private lessons to music majors, music minors, and students enrolled in elective lessons in candidate's primary performance area
- Teach additional courses as needed related to area(s) of expertise and institutional needs
Minimum Required Qualifications:- Terminal degree or masters training in Music Education and experience directing Marching Band. Doctorate in Music preferred; ABD will be considered. Completed terminal degree will be required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
