The Lehigh University Department of Music invites applications for a part-time private voice instructor beginning in late January 2026. We seek a dynamic, collaborative teacher and performer with expertise in both Western classical and Contemporary Commercial Music styles, and deep understanding of voice science and pedagogy, as many singers come from varied backgrounds and experience levels.
Responsibilities include teaching weekly individual voice lessons (approximately 10-15 students per semester), developing syllabi and course materials, preparing students for juries and capstone recitals, and maintaining effective communication with students and colleagues. This position is compensated at $500 per student per semester; lessons are 45 minutes for 10 weeks per semester, or hour-long lessons for 8 weeks per semester. A travel stipend is available for candidates residing more than 20 miles from Bethlehem, PA. This is a contracted position, renewable by semester, not eligible for benefits or permanent status.
Qualifications
Required
M.M. in voice, vocal pedagogy, or equivalent professional experience
Demonstrated success as a performer and teacher
Experience teaching private voice students and related coursework
Experience with both CCM and classical vocal styles
Preferred
3-5 years of collegiate-level voice teaching experience
Demonstrated success maintaining a studio of majors and non-majors
Experience teaching vocal health, pedagogy, and foundational singing techniques
