Director of Bands
Kentucky Wesleyan College, a private, liberal arts college with a long-standing reputation for quality and academic excellence, seeks a passionate and engaging Director of Bands for the 2026-2027 school year. Primary job duties include directing the Kentucky Wesleyan College Band, the Panther Pep Band, managing the wind band library, inventory maintenance schedule, budget and recruitment. Preference will be given to candidates with college or secondary-level teaching experience. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in outreach with local K-12 schools, area music educators, Owensboro-area colleges, and the community. This is a full-time staff position that will begin in August 2026.
Experience
- Ability to recruit in a small-school environment, working with multiple departments across campus to retain students.
- Extensive knowledge of a wide variety of band repertoire at the collegiate level.
- A strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, and working with undergraduate students and a passion for providing an exceptional classroom experience for our students.
- Passion for providing education in a small-school setting.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- A desire to be of service to the college and to the external community.
