CCD values the ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, instructors and staff of diverse backgrounds.GENERAL SUMMARYThe successful Adjunct Instructor for Music must possess the academic and practical expertise to guide student learning and success, and to serve as a mentor and model for students. The applicant should demonstrate strong instructional skills and the ability to engage a diverse student body using traditional, nontraditional, and innovative methods of instruction and effectively structure classes and curriculum to support program and course outcomes.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The instructional assignment will include MUS 1020: Music Appreciation. It is preferred that the successful candidate be able to teach other music courses in person and online in alignment with department needs and the candidate's areas of expertise.In addition to conducting lessons, the job includes class preparation, student evaluation, program level assessment, student advising, attendance and participation in faculty music recitals and other music events.Use of Open Educational Resources (OER) in their courses. Attendance at department meetings and response to emails from students and supervisor within two business days is required. Participation in discipline/department decision making processes and work regarding curriculum, program development, scheduling and other matters are also expected of all Music instructors. Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
