Job Summary
We are seeking a up-beat kid-friendly Music Producer to lead one or more of our weekly enrichment classes called Song Remix Studio! In this class, students will learn to make a simple remix of their favorite song.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and will be responsible for delivering a fun and engaging 1-hour session, each week per class - teaching children how to make a simple remix of their chosen favorite song. This role involves working with various age groups, 2nd-5th grade. Online training and curriculum are provided.
Classes are held in-person at a school in the Laurelhurst neighborhood, & another on Mercer Island. Applicant must be available to teach Mondays &/or Wednesdays, at around 3-4pm - contract will run for the Winter term.
Duties
- Teach students the main controls of the DAW: i.e. how to mute tracks, cut & copy regions, playhead controls.
- Show the campers how to make a simple beat over an 4-bar loop of their stemmed-out song
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a fun but also cohesive learning atmosphere.
- Cultivate Creative Confidence by encouraging the kids to try new things & be okay with making mistakes!
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
- Experience or knowledge in music production is a must
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with students of all ages.
- A passion for teaching and propensity for positive-thinking.
- Ability to jive with the philosophy that "music is the language of the soul"
