The Newcomb Department of Music, Tulane University, announces a Professor of Practice in Piano position to begin in the fall of 2026. We are seeking a distinguished professional with a diverse skill set. The successful candidate will share their experience as a pedagogue, performer, and collaborative pianist with our students. The candidate will be expected to teach piano, which can include a number of private piano students, piano classes, and/or other appropriate classes depending on departmental need. The candidate will also be expected to accompany private lessons and/ or ensembles. Additionally, the job includes the clerical responsibility of assigning collaborative pianists to private lessons and scheduling them for ensembles and rehearsals.
Qualifications:
By the time of the appointment, the candidate should hold a graduate degree in piano pedagogy, piano performance, or collaborative piano, such as an MM, MFA, DMA, or PhD. At least three years teaching at the college level is preferred.
