Position Title: High School and Middle School Music Teacher
FLSA Classification: Fall – 2026-2027
Reports To: Adolescent Director
Hours: Part-Time
The Post Oak School is looking for teachers who are passionate about their work and have an optimistic view of the capacities of teenagers. Summary
The music teacher is a part-time position responsible for teaching music and music appreciation for grades 7-10 and IB music for grades 11-12. This role also requires:
● continuing to develop the 7-10 music curriculum
● modeling a positive regard for adolescents, their work, and their personal dignity
● learning and using a Montessori approach, emphasizing hands-on, real-world learning
● engaging in effective collaboration with all faculty members
● cultivating and maintaining productive relationships with our community partner organizations
Being a working musician or actively involved in the music community is a plus.
Qualifications:
The well-grounded candidate will have experience teaching music or related subjects to middle school or high school students. We are looking for people who possess:
● Bachelors or masters degree in Music or Music Education
● deep knowledge in their content area
● enthusiasm for working with musicians at all skill levels
● never-ending passion for personal learning
● commitment to the goals of Montessori education

● Montessori experience
● IB experience
