Position SummaryThe Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a tenure-track or tenured position in composition to join the faculty of a vibrantly active and performance-focused department. Expected start date: 08/01/2026.Responsibilities will include (1) teaching lessons for composition students at all levels and possibly teaching courses including Orchestration, Composition Forum or other topics in rotation; (2) participating in all Composition Department activities, including recruitment, concert and recital attendance, and sharing in the coordination of departmentally organized projects; (3) serving on doctoral advising committees for DM students; (4) serving on Jacobs School of Music committees; and (5) maintaining an active career as a composer.
Basic QualificationsComposer with a growing (for junior applicants) or established (for senior applicants) national reputation, preferably including significant recognition as shown through performances, recordings, broadcasts, awards, appearances at festivals, etc. Broad knowledge of concert music from the 20th and 21st centuries. Master's degree in composition or related field required; doctoral degree preferred. Commensurate professional experience will also be considered.
