Overview
Lotus School for Excellence (LSE) is a S.T.E.A.M.-focused institution dedicated to developing academic, social, and ethical leaders. We are seeking a versatile and energetic educator to lead our music department with a "vocal-first" approach. This role is designed for a specialist who can inspire vocalists, manage a high-tech piano lab, and bridge the gap between traditional performance and modern audio technology.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Vocal Direction & Pedagogy
- Instruction: Lead as the primary vocal coach/director for individual lessons and ensembles.
- Curriculum: Design repertoire across multiple genres, focusing on healthy technique, stage presence, and music theory.
- Performance: Coordinate showcases, recitals, and community-facing performances.
2. Piano Instruction & Lab Management
- Instruction at Scale: Teach within our dedicated 18-unit piano lab, providing both group and individual instruction.
- Proficiency: Guide students through levels ranging from beginner fundamentals to advanced literature.
- Oversight: Maintain the piano lab facility, including organization and coordinating technical repairs/tuning.
3. Audio Engineering & STEAM Integration
- Production: Teach recording techniques, mixing, and mastering fundamentals.
- Technical STEAM Focus: Integrate acoustics, digital signal processing (DSP), and DAW workflows (Digital Audio Workstations).
- Industry Prep: Bridge the gap between acoustic performance and digital output.
Key Qualifications
- Vocal Expertise: Proven track record in performance and instruction.
- Keyboard Command: Ability to teach piano at scale (experience with lab hardware is a plus).
- Technical Literacy: Proficiency in industry-standard DAWs (e.g., Ableton Live, Logic Pro, or Pro Tools).
- Adaptability: The wit and patience required to manage an 18-piano facility and a diverse student body.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $58,000.00 – $90,000.00 / year (BOE)
- Schedule: Full-time (186-day academic calendar)
- Retirement: Participation in CO PERA (including 401k options).
- Insurance: 100% Employer-funded individual medical benefits.
- Time Off: ~3 weeks summer vacation, ~4 weeks school holidays, plus 10 days PTO.
