The Horne School of Music is located on the Ephraim, Utah campus of Snow College. Although a part of a community college, the Horne School of Music offers a Bachelor of Music with Emphasis in Commercial Music (BMCM) degree to over 150 matriculated music students. Snow College BMCM graduates may also complete the requirements for K-12 music teaching licensure. The Horne School of Music at Snow College seeks an energetic and dynamic music educator to provide leadership for our Music Education program. The ideal candidate will (1) oversee the K-12 Music Teaching Licensure program at Snow, (2) teach music education classes, (3) supervise student teachers, (4) be an enthusiastic recruiter, and (5) be willing to teach classes in a secondary area of expertise, as needed.
- PhD in Music Education preferred, Master’s of Music Education considered.
- A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in public school music education.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a music education program.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise student teachers.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Candidates are asked to include any secondary areas of expertise in their materials.
- Teach the equivalent of 15 hours per semester
- Supervise student teachers in their practicum and student teaching
- Teach in additional area(s) of specialization, where applicable
- Support Music department recruitment efforts
- Serve on college committees as assigned
- Candidates with conducting experience may be asked to guest conduct Snow College ensembles in their area of specialty
