Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and compassionate Hospice Music Therapist to join our dedicated healthcare team. Duties
- Develop and implement personalized music therapy plans that address physical, emotional, and psychological needs of hospice patients.
- Conduct individual and group music therapy sessions utilizing techniques such as behavioral therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and recreational therapy.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including medical staff, social workers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Document patient progress and session details accurately in medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Adapt therapeutic approaches for diverse populations, including children, individuals with autism or developmental disabilities, dementia care patients, and those with disabilities or mental health conditions.
- Provide training and support to caregivers on integrating music therapy techniques into daily routines.
- Maintain a safe and respectful environment that promotes patient dignity and comfort throughout all therapeutic activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program; certification as a Board-Certified Music Therapist (CBMT) preferred.
- Experience working with hospice care patients or in palliative settings is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health principles, dementia care, autism spectrum disorders, pediatrics, addiction counseling, and mental health counseling.
- Proficiency in medical documentation practices and maintaining HIPAA-compliant medical records.
- Ability to design engaging individual and group therapy sessions tailored to diverse patient needs.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and families.
