New England Institute of Technology seeks an Adjunct Music Instructor. Adjunct Instructors are expected to commit to 4 hours per week. Because the day and time the course is offered each term may vary, applicants must be available between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and be flexible with scheduling during these times.

Responsibilities include teaching the Introduction to Applied Music course to students in associate degree programs.
Course Description:
This course will offer students the opportunity to experience a varied approach to piano performance and composition, to understand music terminology, and to explore a variety of instruments and genres of music. Each section of the course will focus on musical concepts through listening, playing, and application. This course will also teach students how to compose and navigate through the music notation program MuseScore. Because of the computer assisted nature of the program, the level of difficulty for this course can be geared to the individual’s interests and needs. Students are not required to have previous musical experience.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in music is required
· Demonstrated proficiency in piano performance required
· Knowledge of music theory
· Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Canvas, MuseScore, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint are required
· Experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Ability to maintain accurate records
This position reports to the Department Chair of the Humanities and Social Sciences Department .
