Summary of Position:
Bismarck State College isseeking a knowledgeable and motivated Assistant Teaching Professor of Music to join our faculty. The successful candidate will supportstudent success by directing choral activities, the BSC Concert Choir and Chamber Choirs, choral conducting, and preparing music events forBSC events.
COMPENSATION: Full-Time, special non-tenure track position. Competitive salary based on directlyrelated experience and education.
Key Responsibilities:
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the successful candidate will beresponsible for:
- Teaching Music Theory I & II, Aural Skills I & II, Applied Voice Lessons, Music Appreciation, WorldMusic
- Facilitating State and Regional music festivals or other areas of expertise or interest
- Participating in professionalorganizations such as NDMEA or ACDA
- Assessing students
- Committee work
- Coordinating with accompanists for rehearsalsand performances
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree inMusic, Choral Directing, or other related field
- Documented successful experience with teaching choral music
- Documentedsuccessful experience with private music lessons
- Documented successful experience with recruiting collegiatestudents
- Documented successful teaching experience
- Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups and ability to work asa team member
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in planning and executing concerts
- Goodworking knowledge of computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office, email, & electronic calendar - Outlook)
- Creative in using avariety of teaching resources, media, and instructional technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned doctorate (PhD or DMA)
- Experience with distance delivery of courses
- Active member in ACDA or a stateorganization such as NDMEA
- Experience with community and school outreach for music
- Experience with a wide range ofrepertoire (i.e., classical, contemporary, multicultural, etc.)
Experience with concert planning, budgeting, and eventcoordination
