Franklin Music Academy, an established and growing music school in southwest Austin, is interviewing for a motivated and experienced Piano Instructor. Additional experience in guitar lessons is preferred, but not required. Our mission is to inspire, teach, and mentor the amateur musician looking to enjoy a life filled with music and we need an instructor who reflects that.
We are looking for a committed teacher who is eager to share their passion for music with students of varying ages and abilities. Candidates must be comfortable working with children in a high-energy environment and have exceptional personal skills with students and families. The ideal piano instructor must be willing to give in-person lessons at our music studio and online, if necessary. We are not a Traveling Teacher company. Our staff takes care of scheduling, fee collection, administration, and bookkeeping allowing instructors to enjoy teaching.
Teachers are provided with studio curriculum and resources to teach engaging lessons that encourage students to learn and improve. Teachers may also design some of their own lesson plans, if interested.
This is a contract part-time position that can grow to full-time. We have had instructors gross over $2k a month on part-time hours at the starting pay! If you're looking to supplement your income in an easy and fun environment apply to this job posting.

Salary:
- $35/hour to start with the ability to advance in pay
Responsibilities:
- Teach private and group piano lessons to students ages 6+;
- Occasionally collaborate with staff to enhance curricula and lesson plans, as needed.
- You would be building a student base as the lesson requests come in, one student at a time.
- Effectively communicate with students and parents
- Clearly assign homework to students and communicate assignments with parents
- Punctual attendance to each lesson and recital attendance is required
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in music OR equivalent work experience is required.
- Must have at least 1 year of recent teaching experience
- Be currently living in Austin or the surrounding area
- Plan on living in Austin for at least 2 years
- Be available to teach at least 3 afternoons M-W 3pm – 8pm and/or a shift on Saturday 10-3 pm
- Have a strong desire to be a successful teacher
- Strong organizational skills

- Pass federal/state background check
- Submit student progress report, which may include pictures and/or short videos of students to track progress

Education:
