Position Summary
First Reformed Church of Holland is seeking a skilled and collaborative Choir Accompanist to support the music ministry of the congregation. Rooted in the Reformed Church in America tradition, our worship life values theological depth, musical excellence, and meaningful congregational participation. The accompanist will work closely with the Choir Director to provide high-quality accompaniment for rehearsals and worship, primarily on organ and piano.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accompaniment for weekly choir rehearsals (Wednesday evenings)
- Accompany the choir during Sunday worship services and special services as scheduled (e.g., Christmas, Holy Week)
- Collaborate regularly with the Choir Director to prepare music selections and coordinate rehearsals
- Engage in personal practice to ensure musical readiness and excellence
- Support the broader worship ministry as needed, including occasional accompaniment for congregational singing or additional ensembles
Qualifications
- Proficiency in both organ and piano (organ strongly preferred)
- Ability to read music fluently and accompany choral literature across a variety of traditional sacred styles
- Experience working with church choirs or similar ensembles
- Strong collaborative and communication skills
- Familiarity with or appreciation for Reformed worship traditions

Time Commitment
- Weekly Wednesday evening rehearsal
- Sunday morning worship service participation (as scheduled)
- Additional time for coordination and personal practice (totaling approximately 10 hours per week)
- Children's Choir (30 minutes Sunday morning)
- Works in close collaboration with the Choir Director and worship staff
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
