Job Title: Part-Time Organist
Church: First Reformed Church of Holland, Michigan
Compensation: $200 per service (per visit) Contract or Weekly
Position Summary
First Reformed Church of Holland is seeking a skilled and dependable organist to support congregational singing in our worship services. As a historic congregation within the Reformed Church in America, we value reverent, theologically grounded worship shaped by strong musical leadership. The organist will play a vital role in leading hymns and enhancing the worship experience through organ accompaniment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide organ accompaniment for congregational singing during Sunday worship services
- Play preludes, postludes, and other service music as appropriate
- Coordinate with the Lead Pastor and/or Worship Coordinator regarding hymn selections and service flow
- Arrive prepared and in advance of services to rehearse as needed
- Maintain a high standard of musical excellence appropriate to traditional Reformed worship
Qualifications
- Proficiency in organ performance, particularly in leading congregational singing
- Ability to interpret and perform a wide range of traditional hymnody
- Experience in church worship settings preferred
- Strong sense of timing, phrasing, and tempo to support congregational participation
- Reliable, professional, and collaborative

- Communicate clearly and consistently with church staff
- Support the mission and worship life of First Reformed Church
Schedule
- Sundays and additional services as scheduled (e.g., holidays, special services)
- This can be either a per visit position or a contract position.
Reporting Relationship
- Reports to the Lead Pastor
- Works in coordination with worship staff and musicians
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
