Bethel Music Center is a family-owned music business in Bethel, CT. BMC was established in 1984, and our mission is to provide well-rounded, individualized music instruction to students of all ages and abilities. Our teachers are fun, friendly, and supportive to students and peers.
We are looking for private Strings instructors to complement our qualified workforce of music teachers. Lessons are generally a half-hour long, with the option for 45 minute or hour lessons for more advanced students. We offer private or small group (2-3 students) instruction. Most of our lessons are taught between 3pm-7pm during the week, as well as on Saturdays.
You will be responsible for preparing and implementing a teaching plan according to the needs of each student. It will be fundamental to provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping them develop their confidence and skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job and have an ability to connect with students. The goal is to have fun while advancing talents and skills.
Responsibilities
- Present lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning
- Provide individualized instruction to each student
- Create and distribute educational content (notes, assignments etc.)
- Assess students progress and provide feedback
- Maintain a tidy and orderly lesson room
- Prepare students for performances
Skills
- Proven experience as a private music teacher is preferred but not required
- Ability to play/teach multiple instruments is a plus
- Ability to work with children and adults of all ages and skill levels
- Well-organized and committed
- Creative and energetic
Education
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Experience
- Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
