First Methodist Church of Americus is seeking a skilled and ministry-minded organist to serve in our traditional 11:00AM worship service and support the music ministry of our congregation.
Position Summary
The organist will provide organ and, when needed, piano accompaniment that enhances congregational worship, supports the chancel choir, and contributes to the overall excellence of our music ministry.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide organ music for the Sunday 11:00AM traditional worship service
- Prelude and postlude
- Hymn accompaniment
- Service music as assigned
- Rehearse with the Chancel Choir on Sunday mornings
- Offer special music periodically (organ solo, piano/organ duet, etc.)
- Serve as pianist when needed
- Participate in major seasonal services and events, including:
- Annual Christmas Concert
- Easter Services
- Occasional special concerts throughout the year
- Provide accompaniment for occasional Wednesday night choir rehearsals (typically covered by staff pianist) (only when staff pianist is unavailable)
Instrument
Our sanctuary features an ALLEN Digital Pipe Organ – Three Manual, 46 Stops (G330), providing a rich and versatile tonal palette suitable for traditional worship and concert repertoire.
Compensation & Benefits
- $250–$325 per week, commensurate with experience and education
- Two weeks of paid vacation annually

- Proficiency in organ performance and hymn accompaniment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with choir, clergy, and music staff
