Position Overview
Christ The King Baptist Church is seeking a visionary, organized, and spiritually grounded Music Director / Director of Music & Fine Arts to lead our music ministry into a new season. This role is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of music and fine arts at Christ The King, blending the richness of traditional gospel and hymns with contemporary praise, worship and musical expressions that engage the generations.
The Music Director serves as the primary musical authority of the church under the leadership of the Senior Pastor and is responsible for planning, teaching, organizing, and managing choirs, musicians, praise dancers and other musical expressions in alignment with the church's worship vision, sermon themes, and annual calendar.
The ideal candidate will possess strong musical knowledge, spiritual maturity, proven leadership ability, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for creating worship experiences that honor God while engaging multiple generations through worship. Qualified candidates will also possess:
- Demonstrated Christian faith and commitment to Biblical principles
- Proven experience leading church music ministries and worship services
- Strong knowledge of gospel music, hymns, traditional and contemporary worship styles
- Demonstrated ability to teach music and lead effective rehearsals
- Leadership capacity to manage people, teams, schedules, and conflict
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Spiritual maturity and a heart for ministry
- Ability to work collaboratively with pastoral leadership and church staff
Preferred Experience
- Three or more years of church music ministry leadership experience
- Previous experience directing both choirs and musicians
- Experience planning worship services and special productions
- Ability to read music and communicate musical arrangements effectively
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee music for weekly worship services, special events, and seasonal celebrations in alignment with the Senior Pastor's vision, sermon themes, and church calendar.
- Lead, teach, and develop adult choirs, vocal ministries, musicians, and worship teams while providing oversight and support to youth music ministry leadership.
- Foster a worship culture that blends hymns, traditional gospel, contemporary gospel, and modern worship music while introducing new music and creative expressions as appropriate.
- Organize and direct rehearsals, ensuring singers and musicians are well-prepared through clear communication, advance planning, and effective musical instruction.
- Provide leadership and administration for the Music & Fine Arts Ministry, including scheduling, ministry coordination, and collaboration with media, sound, and production teams.
- Establish and uphold standards of excellence, accountability, professionalism, spiritual growth, and servant leadership throughout the music ministry.
- Support church-wide initiatives, special services, conferences, concerts, and other events requiring music and fine arts participation.
