DESCRIPTION: The Sound Engineer will produce the best possible atmosphere for worship through sound and media support. This includes recruitment, training, and scheduling audio/media volunteers in all of the Sunday morning worship services and additional special services in cooperation with other staff and volunteer musicians.
STATUS - This is a part-time contract position, 6-10 hours per week
SUPERVISION - This position reports to the Director of Music Ministries
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit, schedule, and supervise sound/media volunteers to serve during Sunday morning worship services, including traditional, contemporary, and bilingual services, and during special events.
- Work with musicians to ensure that the stage is set for Sunday morning worship in both the sanctuary and foundry.
- Perform proper line check and sound checks to ensure that Sunday morning services run efficiently and properly.
- Check with worship leader and pastors for schedule and any schedule changes for Sunday morning services.
During Service
- Responsible for adjusting sound levels during service as needed, for both in-house and livestream mixes.
- Responsible for following worship leader’s direction and musician’s direction during services (i.e. boosting monitor levels).
- Responsible for providing a distraction-free service as it relates to audio production.
- Assisting with visual worship slides as needed, using ProPresenter software.
Post-service
- Communicate with Director of Music Ministries and musicians to find out if issues existed for them during service.
- Note any broken/faulty equipment and take it out of service if possible.
- Clear stage of equipment as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Able to work in a team environment and take direction.
- Has experience with mixing audio successfully in both a live environment and online environment during a worship service or similar event, and/or has a degree in audio and technical production or equivalent.
- Has good communication skills.
- Ability to think quickly and react/troubleshoot properly.
- Willing to attend training sessions and read/watch other training material for improving existing skills.
