Position Summary: Primarily responsible to ensure the health and safety of the consumers that attend the CALAB Creative Arts Center and ensure lesson plans are developed and carried out.
Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED. At least one year experience working with persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities preferred.
*Ideal candidates are Creative and Empathetic individuals who enjoy a structured environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Complete lesson plans to support the upcoming week’s theme with interesting, and creative activities for the week.
- Seek community resources to work with the Creative Arts Center for free and inexpensive activities as well as guest speakers and field trips.
- Volunteering in the community with our clients.
- Ensure that our clients stay active with meaningful activities
- Managing clients special needs correctly, ie: diet, behaviors, etc…
- Responsible for knowing and understanding all training
- Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and within the timeframes.
- Ensure the building is maintained in a good order and all décor is maintained.
- Ensure that vehicles that are used by the CALAB Creative Arts Center are maintained adequately in regards to cleanliness and overall mechanical maintenance.
- Ensure the implementation of social group, rules, and consequence for those who do not follow the rules according to their behavior plans.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Personal Skills: Writing skills for documentation, communication skills.
Physical and Sensory Skills: Ability to communicate with and assist all consumers ability to read, write and converse in English and in a professional manner.
Equipment and Work Aids Used: Computer, telephone, copier, fax.
At-Will Employment: This description is not a contract of employment. All employees of CALAB, Inc. are at-will employees. This position will be revised from time to time as needed to meet consumer, regulatory and business needs.
