Part-Time Music Specialist
Music Academy of the Rockies is seeking an engaging teacher to lead early childhood music and movement classes in the south metro area of Denver. This is a part time position (4-8 hours per week) based primarily in Highlands Ranch. Comprehensive curriculum, lesson plans, and teaching support will be provided. Preferred candidates will have experience singing, leading music with parents and young children, have a playful approach and a desire to inspire a love of music. Music performance, music education, music therapy degree or musical theater background is a plus. Rate is $40 per 45-minute class once fully certified and trained. Set up and clean up are part of the fee structure. Auditions where applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to sing in tune and move with accurate rhythm will be conducted via Zoom. Position Responsibilities:
- Teach indoor, in-person music classes Tuesdays and Saturday mornings (possibly more) using the Music Together curriculum and following the Music Together educational approach.
- Create strong relationships with parents and students with a warm, friendly and engaging disposition.
- Advocate and educate others on the importance of music in our children's development.
- Participate in occasional professional development meetings with staff.
- Must be able to commit to agreed-upon teaching schedule and commit to teaching a minimum of two years.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Teachers must have a Music Together Teaching Certificate or be willing to obtain one
- Must submit to background check
- Excellent music singing and leading skills
- Leadership ability and classroom management skills
- Experience working with children ages 0-5 and/or teaching in a school setting a plus, but not required
- Instrumental skills (guitar, drums, keyboard, or other instrument) a plus, but not required
- Knowledge of child development or openness to learn
- Ability to lift and move instruments, tables, chairs and other classroom needs depending on location
- Music degree preferred
