Church of the Shepherd (COS) is a growing, multigenerational United Methodist church in St. Charles County, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. We are passionate about creating a church where people can belong before they believe, ask honest questions, grow spiritually, and discover meaningful Christian community.
We are seeking a relational, creative, spiritually mature leader to serve as our next Director of Worship Ministries.
This full-time role oversees worship ministries across COS and directly leads music for our 9:00 a.m. worship service. We are looking for someone who can cast vision, develop volunteers, and guide the spiritual and creative direction of worship across a variety of styles. Develop Musicians and Worship Volunteers
- Serve as choir director, recruiting and rehearsing vocalists and musicians for regular and special services.
- Recruit, mentor, and encourage worship volunteers across services and age groups, including musicians and media, video, and lighting teams.
- Build teams where volunteers can grow in their gifts and understand how their service contributes to the church’s mission.
Other Worship Experiences
- Coordinate music and worship planning for Christmas, Easter, Holy Week, funerals, and other special services.
- Help ensure worship spaces, technology, and communication support well-prepared services and a welcoming experience.
- Work collaboratively with staff and ministry teams to keep worship connected to the wider life and vision of COS.
- Be an active part of the COS Staff Team, and grow in faith through the 5 Spiritual Practices (worship, growing, giving, serving, inviting).
Who You Are
- You love Christ-centered worship and helping people of all backgrounds connect with God.
- You are spiritually mature, emotionally healthy, and self-motivated.
- You build relationships naturally and enjoy encouraging musicians and volunteers.
- You can lead both creatively and strategically, bringing a clear vision and thoughtful preparation.
