Andrews Osborne Academy seeks candidates for a general music teacher (grades PreK-5) and ensemble/band teacher (grades 4-8). This is a part time position - mornings 8-12:30/1:00. Candidates should possess the ability to maintain a strong music and band program for the school.

Responsibilities include teaching general music classes for students in PreKindergarten through fifth grade and teaching/conducting bands or ensembles in grades 4-8. A bachelor’s degree in music/education is necessary; a master’s degree is preferred. We are looking for an innovative candidate with a strong musical background and the ability to play piano. The ideal candidate is a passionate and skillful educator, who is eager to invest her/his talents into our performing arts programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach courses of general music in the Lower School (PreK-5) including ukulele in grade 3, band/ensembles in grades 4-8 and implement music curriculum. Attend faculty meetings as needed.
Perform duties as assigned by Director and Head of School
Fulfill all other faculty responsibilities that may occur outside the school day, including writing reports and planning
Lead students at concerts/assist grade levels with program music through teaching songs and playing piano

Qualifications:

A love for teaching children
Bachelor’s degree required with Orff training preferred
Prior teaching experience required
Demonstrate a high level of musical mastery
Ability to work in a collegial and highly collaborative environment
A growth mindset, active sense of humor, warm personality, and excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently, as well as on a team
Highly developed interpersonal communication skills - accomplished oral and written communication skills
