Job DescriptionThe School of Music is one of the six schools withing the College of Fine Arts. The School of Music plays a significant role in the vibrant cultural life of Ohio University as well as Southeast Ohio. School of Music students, faculty and guest artists present over 200 concerts and recitals each year. A distinguished faculty of 37 full-time and 15 part time professors serves a student body of approximately 280 undergraduate and 65 master's students. The School of Music invites applications for a full-time instructional position in choral music education. The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music education (face-to-face and in our online MME program); other duties include conducting at least two collegiate choral ensembles, directing master's theses/clinical projects, and supervising student teachers. The person selected for this role will play a crucial part in cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with K-12 teachers, ensuring ongoing internship opportunities for our students.Additional duties as assigned, related to candidate's expertise and experience. The individual selected must possess a willingness to contribute to all aspects of the School of Music, including active involvement in the recruitment and retention of students, close collaboration with the Director of Choral Activities, other music education faculty, and participation on committees and participation in community engagement activities.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degreeMinimum of five years of Public School teaching experience and a documented record of excellence in teaching.Preferred QualificationsDoctorate in Music Education preferred, ABD considered.1) Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, andstudents; 2) A well- articulated agenda for teaching and preparing prospective music educators for successful careers in music education; 3) At least five years of K-12 teaching experience; 4) Prior collegiate teaching experience.DepartmentSchool of Music
