JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an energetic Private Lesson String/Orchestral String instructor to add to our amazing Private Lesson Instructor Team!
An Instructor chosen for this position will be responsible for teaching private music lessons to students of varying ages and proficiency levels in a music store lesson studio setting. Please note: THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for music education to join our teaching team. This is a part-time position initially, with an opportunity for flex-sub work, and with the goal and potential for expanding into a larger student schedule over time as desired.
Duties:
- Plan and conduct engaging private music lessons tailored to meet the needs of individual students
- Teach fundamental music theory concepts such as reading music, rhythm, and melody
- Provide guidance and support to students as they develop their musical skills and abilities
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to facilitate improvement
- Collaborate with other music teachers and staff to coordinate performance recitals (Dec)
- Stay informed about current trends and advancements in music education
Requirements:
- Proficiency in at least 2 of any of the following areas: Orchestral Strings (Violin/Viola/Cello, Mandolin). When you apply, also let us know if you can teach as a sub for any of the following: Guitar (Uke, Bass Guitar), Piano/Keyboard, Music Theory, Youth Percussion (Bell/drum kit, drum set), Voice (Classical, Church, Pop, Broadway), Instrumental Music (elementary through High School band instruments, woodwind/brass). Please note all in your resume, along with what level of expertise you hold in each (minimum 2).
- Ability to teach elementary or intermediate to advancing levels in Orchestral strings or other string instruments is a bonus (elementary level is required).
- Completion of a college music degree is preferred but not mandatory; consideration will be given to applicants with relevant teaching experience or enrollment in a music program, past college courses, professional affiliations, or guilds. Please list relevant to each.
- Experience working with children or in early childhood education is advantageous
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs

- A degree in Music Education is preferred but not required, or some college of music background, or related field of study/music performance is expected.
- Experience teaching music in an individual studio setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with childhood development principles to effectively engage elementary school-aged children.
- Knowledge of curriculum development to create effective lesson plans that meet educational standards.
- Experience in tutoring or providing individualized instruction is a plus.
- Previous experience working with special education students is beneficial.
- Experience teaching music reading, music theory, technic and repertoire to individuals of varying ages and proficiency levels
