GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The School of Education and Music is currently seeking a part-time adjunct instructor in the area of Strings. The Music Department curently offers a B.A. in Music and a B.A. in Music Education. Our department is made up of instrumentalists and vocalists who desire to teach, perform, and work in a variety of fields in the music industry. We believe in a culture of collaboration, academic rigor, and practical experiences in order to shape the musicians that participate in our program. Southern Wesleyan University's music programs are fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). In addition to specific academic requirements, SWU strives to create a distinctively Christian environment that fosters the integration of faith, learning, and living. Successful candidates must enhance and support this mission. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a qualified candidate to teach the following in its strings area: applied strings to music majors and non-majors; direct the Chamber String Ensemble; teach a bi-annual String Methods course for our music education majors. Opportunities to perform are available and encouraged at SWU. Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staff needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education. Minimum requirement is a Master's Degree.
- Teaching Experience. Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
- Technology. SWU is committed to maximizing the use of technology in its daily operations and in achieving its strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be comfortable and familiar with the use of technology within the academic environment including distance learning and learning management systems. The instructor must have the technological capabilities to operate within the online environment, including being comfortable using Microsoft Teams conferencing software.

- Physical/Environmental Requirements. Visual acuity necessary to do editorial work, proof documents, and manage files. Teaching in an online format requires the instructor to be flexible, available and responsive to the needs of his/her online students.
