CMS Ensembles RepresentativeDescriptionAdministers the CMS Orchestras, serving approximately 300 students. Position is a liaison to 5 conductors Manages auditions for over 400 students annually; handles logistics for over 100 guest artists to coach sectionals; essential communication with 600 parents and 300 students regarding rehearsals and performances; implement CMS policies; works with CMS staff for recruitment and room scheduling. Reports to CMS Director.
Coordinate the distribution of performance, rehearsal, and audition schedules for musicians and faculty.
Produce and distribute correspondence and related information for auditions and selection of ensemble and orchestra members. This includes, but is not limited to audition schedules, music materials, and acceptance/refusal letters.
Order, prepare, and distribute music and order and prepare folders for the orchestras and ensembles.
Observe rehearsals assessing artistic quality and progress and general operations.
Assist the Community Music School Director in preparing and maintaining annual budget and other bookkeeping functions as related to the orchestras and ensembles.
Coordinate the logistics of each performance and rehearsal.
Work with area music educators to complete instrumentation of ensembles.
Organize volunteers to facilitate and work rehearsals, concerts, and special events as needed.
Prepare work orders for rehearsals, performances, etc.
Attend all internal and external performances of the orchestras and ensembles, and provide staff support. Make public announcements.
Organize and maintain the music library for the orchestras and ensembles.
Produce concert programs and announcements.
Arrange for and schedule sectional coaches approved by conductors/school director.
Arrange meetings with conductors and appropriate Community Music School staff. Act as liaison with parents.
Coordinate String Orchestra summer camp.
Work with Building Representative to coordinate rehearsal, sectional, and concert schedule and space needs.

Minimum QualificationsStrong organizational skills and effective interpersonal skills. Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Music or music education background required. Ability to work independently. High level of efficiency in data entry. Must be competent with Excel, Microsoft Word, Office 365, and student management systems. Ability to exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with conductors, parents and the University community. Monday – Friday, 3-7 p.m. with some flexibility. Occasional weekend work required for auditions, dress rehearsals, and concerts.
Preferred QualificationsTwo years of orchestra/ensemble management or equivalent experience.
