Benefits at Loyolahttps://www.loyola.edu/department/hr/benefits/If Temporary or Visiting, Estimated End DatePosition DutiesThe Music Program of the Loyola University Maryland Department of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a part-time Affiliate Instructor in music to teach applied music lessons. Lessons are taught at two levels, a 30-minute lower-level for students in their first semester of applied study, and a 45-minute upper-level for majors and minors.
As Loyola employees, applied instructors are ranked at the Affiliate Instructor level. Applied Instructors are paid in two equal installments over the semester, once at mid-term and once following the final class day of the semester. The semester stipend for each 45-minute lesson is $600, and each 30-minute lesson is $400.
Other information:- The selected candidate will provide twelve lessons per semester to students of varying skill and experience levels. Lessons can be scheduled at mutually convenient times for both the instructor and the students.
- Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary appointments, assigned per semester and on an as-needed basis.

Education and Experience:- A master's degree in the candidate's field is required from an accredited institution. A doctoral degree is preferred from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:- Preference will be given to applicants who have previous experience teaching at the secondary and/or college levels.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Ability to teach undergraduate college music students applied lessons at all levels.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with the general public.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work under stress and with pressing timelines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
