First Baptist Church Of Sterling (www.firststerling.org) is a local Baptist Church located in the heart of Northern Virginia. The vision, mission and goal of the First Baptist Church is to preach, practice and produce the gospel to all and to give sight to the spiritually blind; and to those who have been emotionally wounded and bruised by life's battles. The church has active Men's, Women's and Music Ministries and stays active in the community and has provided food and served as a vaccination clinic during the height of the pandemic. The church is looking to expand its current community outreach offerings. We have a warm, friendly and professional environment with a business casual attire.

Overview of The Role
The Minister of Music creates an atmosphere of celebration and reverence to God through music for all worship services. They will direct the Church music program to include choir(s), vocal, instrumental, and other phases/expressions of musical experience and lead the church in a music ministry that will inspire and enhance congregational worship and fellowship.
This role is Part-Time. Must be available Saturdays for rehearsal, Sunday for worship service and other special events as needed. Previous Experience Required!
Salary is Weekly (negotiable)
A Minister of Music should have a passion and vision to contribute to worship vitality among a multigenerational congregation and community.
The following are some of the duties and responsibilities a Minister of Music should be able to execute:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Plan, organize and lead the music ministry.
● Lead, direct and perform in various components of the music programs including the choir(s), vocal, instruments and other expressions of musical experience.
● Teach, coach and mentor all music ministry team members to become lifelong learners with respect to their musical talents as well as their spiritual development.
● Rehearse the Praise Team weekly.
● Promote fellowship within and help recruit new volunteers into the music ministry. Mentor and coach interested members to become worship leaders or other forms of music ministry specialists, according to their spiritual calling.
● Practice discipleship through inspiring and engaging music ministry
● Provide inspiring and motivational music ministry during all worship services and FBC programs/events.
● Lead the congregation, utilizing a variety of styles of music and help bridge generational/cultural differences by selecting a balance of musical styles for every service.
● Assist in developing opportunities for Youth involvement in the worship service.
● Seek opportunities for church music groups to perform in the community, including church planned outreach or service programs and activities of local communities or organizations.
● Serve as a resource for church members on music for weddings, funerals, memorial services, and special recognition ceremonies.
● Participate in planning meetings with the Senior Pastor, Leadership, Worship Administrators and Administrative Team.
● Manage the music ministry budget and submit required reports, estimates and requests by specified deadlines.
● Availability and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and Holidays.
● Other duties as required and requested by the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
● Belief in Jesus as Savior and evidence of a relationship with God
● Exemplify obedience to the Word of God and devotion to a deep-rooted prayer life.
● Music background by education or experience and teaching ability sufficient to coach and guide all the members of the music ministry to continually enhance their musical skills.
● Experience as a worship leader is required.
● Self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, possessing multigenerational relational skills.
● Excellent leadership, communication, administrative, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
● Demonstrate gifts and a calling to the Music Ministry and have a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
● Familiarity with modern Christian music as well as more traditional styles of sacred music in a blended worship format.
● Ability to act with minimal supervision and provide guidance to church leadership in all areas concerning the Music Ministry.
● Exhibit proven ability to teach and train multigenerational worship leaders.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $300.00 - $500.00 per week
