The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (a recently named R1 institution) invites applications for afull-time tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Music Entrepreneurship and Technology to begin August 15, 2026.
We seeka visionary scholar and educator to join our faculty and collaborate in the development of a strategic new interdisciplinary curriculumfocused on the intersection of music, business innovation, and technology. This position is a new investment in the future of creativecareers at our institution, which will include collaboration with the College of Arts and Architecture and the Belk College of Business inaddition to other relevant technology/arts units. Duties include teaching courses related to music entrepreneurship, technology, and/orindustry, and retaining excellent students. Additional duties may be assigned commensurate with the candidate’s expertise and thedepartment’s curricular, service, and community outreach needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for significantcontributions to the field through research and a strong commitment to developing a cohort of entrepreneurially minded students.
Candidates must hold a doctorate in music or related field relevant to this position, have experience in the areas listed above (ABDconsidered; terminal degree must be conferred by the contract start date), and have demonstrated success teaching at the college level.Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated expertise in technology and innovation in the music sector, significantscholarly/creative contributions, effective communication skills, a record of professional activity in music venues, significant researchachievement, and demonstration of ancillary benefits to the department in cross-curricular interests and community engagement. Candidateswho have demonstrated potential for peer-reviewed publication and research experience are especially desirable.
