Welcome to First Presbyterian Church of Mooresville, NC. We are a thriving church whose membership has remained strong throughout the years and continues to grow today. FPC have approximately 600 members with about 300 participating in worship each Sunday in two Contemporary and one Traditional service. We are seeking a Contemporary Worship Music Leader to guide our two contemporary services at 8:30am and 10:00am.
POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Contemporary Worship Music Leader (Part-time)
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Music, Head of Staff
POSITION SUMMARY OF PURPOSE: The part-time Contemporary Worship Music Leader has a strong Christian faith as part of his/her everyday personal relationships, embraces the theology of Reformed worship, and has appreciation for the breadth of music in this tradition. The person in this position must be an experienced contemporary worship leader and able to provide leadership and resources for the contemporary music services at FPCM.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Administration of a contemporary worship service to include:
i) Provide oversight of the contemporary worship volunteers
ii) Recruit and train vocalists and instrumentalists to develop and improve their skills
iii) Lead and play/sing in all contemporary services, as organized by church leadership
iv) Direct weekly Praise Team rehearsals and sound check to fulfill contemporary worship needs
v) Collaborate with Pastors and others to plan thoughtful, worshipful, and appropriate music that enhances chosen themes or biblical context
vi) Coordinate all logistical matters for worship through music in association with the Audio/ Visual/Lighting (AVL) team, Pastors, and relevant volunteers. Ensure lyrics are supplied to the AVL team in advance and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) is kept up to date
vii) Be available for special services such as Easter, Christmas, and other holidays
viii) Coordinate with the Director of Music and other musicians for occasional blended worship throughout the year
ix) Provide a suitable substitute when unable to work
2) Maintain the inventory for contemporary music and instruments by notifying the Director of Music for:
i) Tuning and upkeep of the instruments
ii) Music library/instruments: additional purchase needs outside of authorized budget
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To participate in regular staff meetings is strongly suggested and committee meetings as requested
2. To participate in an annual staff performance review
3. To be available to accept invitations to lead events or worship in the church, as approved by the Director of Music
REIMBURSEMENT POLICY: Follow Reimbursement Policy procedures established by the Finance Committee, including reconciliation of receipts and invoices and completion of necessary forms. Receipts and invoices must be turned into the Business Administrator by the fifteenth (15th) of each month.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to collaborate with staff members, committee chairs, church members, visiting musicians, and others. Ability to direct volunteers and to recruit people for the various choirs. Strong ability to work within the constraints of a budget and to provide guidance and direction to forward budget planning. Ability to attract guest musicians or programs and to mentor budding musicians when possible. Strong organizational skills required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in music (preferred) or related field with 3+ years of Worship Leader experience.
Pay: $22,000.00 per year
