Position Description:The University of Louisville is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) in Guitar.
Principal Duties- Teach applied guitar students in baccalaureate and master's degree programs along with teaching related courses in guitar pedagogy, guitar literature, chamber music, and class guitar.
- Maintain an active music performance schedule and visibility as a teacher at the state, national, and international levels.
- Recruit and retain prospective undergraduate and graduate guitar students.
- Actively engage in research/creative activity, university/professional service, and community engagement.
- Support and participate in the New Music mission of the School of Music.
Qualifications- Master's degree in guitar performance required, doctorate in guitar performance preferred. Candidates without these academic credentials, but with significant experience at the professional level in chamber or solo performance and pedagogical credentials may also be considered.
- Demonstrated current and ongoing activity in professional-level performance.
- Record of successful recruitment, teaching, and student retention at the collegiate level.
About the School of MusicThe University of Louisville is Kentucky's premier, nationally recognized metropolitan research university.
