We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Middle School Music Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students' appreciation for music through comprehensive instruction in music theory, history, and performance. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching music to middle school students, with a strong background in both instrumental.
- Proficiency in playing, reading music and teaching various musical instruments
- Strong understanding of music theory, history, and pedagogy.
- Ability to plan, organize, and deliver engaging music lessons and performances.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Competence in using educational technology and music software to enhance instruction.
- Valid Tennessee or equivalent teaching license or enrollment and educator preparation program required.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Planning and Delivery:
-Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for middle school students, encompassing music theory, history, and performance.
· Utilize a diverse repertoire of music literature, including traditional and contemporary pieces, appropriate for students' age and skill levels.
· Incorporate innovative teaching methods and emerging technologies to enhance student engagement and learning.
Ensemble Direction and Performance:
· Conduct and rehearse various musical ensembles, such as choirs, bands, or orchestras.
· Plan, organize, and direct musical performances, including school concerts, community events, and special programs.
· Provide individual and group instruction to develop students' musical skills and prepare them for performances.
Classroom Management:
· Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning and creativity.
· Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and discipline.
· Address students' personal, medical, and learning differences with sensitivity and appropriate accommodations.
Assessment and Evaluation:
· Monitor and assess student progress through various methods, including performances, projects, and written assessments.
· Provide constructive feedback to students to support their musical development.
· Maintain accurate records of student achievements and communicate progress to parents and guardians.
Extracurricular Activities:
· Organize and lead extracurricular music activities, such as after-school ensembles, music clubs, or workshops.
· Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music into other areas of the curriculum and school events.
· Engage students in community outreach programs to showcase their musical talents.
Professional Development and Collaboration:
· Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in music education.
· Collaborate with fellow educators to enhance the overall educational experience and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
· Attend faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school events as required.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods during teaching and rehearsals.
· Ability to lift and carry teaching materials, musical instruments, and equipment (up to 25 pounds).
· Visual acuity sufficient to read musical scores, instructional materials, and observe student performances.
· Ability to use hands and fingers to play musical instruments, operate classroom technology, and handle instructional materials.
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and orally, in a classroom setting and during performances.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $53,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
