POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Music at Seton Hill University invites applications for a one year position for Assistant Professor of Music-- Music Education, beginning in August 2026.
Responsibilities include serving as coordinator of music education, supervision of student teaching, and teaching and/or oversight of the music education curriculum. The candidate will have other duties as determined by the qualifications of the candidate and the needs of the program.
Requirements include a Ph.D. in Music Education. Consideration will be given to a candidate with an M.M and advanced study in music education and significant experience in instrumental conducting. Preference will be given to a candidate with at least three years experience teaching in the public schools. Prior experience developing and coordinating music education curriculum is preferred as is evidence of an ongoing record of professional activities in the discipline and successful experience teaching at the college level. A commitment to recruitment and developing relationships with area music educators and to teaching within the context of a liberal arts education is required. Interest in administration is preferred. This is a full-time (10 month) position with a 4/4 course load.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Ph.D. in Music Education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Administrative and departmental leadership experience
- Three years experience teaching in the public schools.
- Prior experience developing and coordinating music education curriculum
