DIRECTOR OF MUSIC MINISTRIES
HOLY TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, LIVONIA, MI
Position Purpose
The Director of Music Ministries will provide a well-rounded and inspiring music ministry that supports Holy Trinity’s vision of sharing the Gospel and building community. The Director of Music Ministries shall work closely with the Senior Pastor, and in consultation with the Associate Pastor, to plan worship and provide leadership and encouragement to other musicians and volunteers.
Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities
Provide piano and organ music at regularly scheduled worship services, including mid-week services during special seasons.
Direct the weekly chancel choir rehearsals normally scheduled September – June.
Schedule and support individuals and small groups from within the congregation to provide special music.
Direct and provide instruction for the Trinity Bells hand bell choir.
Consult with the pastors in the general planning of all worship services and special programs and in the selection of hymns and choral music.
Coordinate other areas of music ministry such as Vacation Bible School, concerts, Christmas programs, dramas, or cantatas.
Provide music for weddings, funerals and other special services when available. When not available, assist in the hiring of substitute musicians.
Be available for special music / concerts.
Supervise the usage and maintenance of all church owned musical instruments.
Handle all aspects of scheduling and hiring guest and substitute musicians.
Knowledge to trouble shoot audio/visual equipment is desired.
Be permitted to use the church facilities and its instruments (organ, piano) for private teaching. Times of lessons and use of the facilities must be scheduled in advance through the church office so as not to conflict with the church’s ministry needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in music is preferred
Hand bell choir experience is desirable
Willingness to present a variety of musical styles within worship
Demonstrate skill, competency, and adaptability at the keyboard for both piano and organ and a working knowledge of other instruments
Experience and competency directing choirs of all age groups
