Job Title: Assistant Audio Technician (A2 Sound Engineer)
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Assistant Audio Technician to support our technical production team. The Assistant Audio Technician works closely with the Lead Audio Technician to ensure seamless audio production at live events. You will be responsible for mic management, RF coordination, audio setup and strike, and providing critical stage support. This hands-on role requires strong technical knowledge, quick problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure during live events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mic Management (Mic Tech/Runner): Fitting performers/presenters with microphones, checking batteries, troubleshooting, and performing quick swaps during live shows
- RF Coordination: Managing wireless microphone frequencies to prevent interference
- Audio Setup/Strike: Setting up stage monitors, cabling, microphones, and speakers, as well as breaking down equipment (striking) after events
- Stage Support: Providing backstage (deck-side) support to the A1 and ensuring, for example, that downstage monitors are functioning
- Receive and carry out directions as provided by A1 Lead Audio Technician and event lead
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
- Unload vehicles at event and help with the overall load in and out
- Must be on time for set up of all events
- Ensure proper care and handling of company equipment
- Attend training seminars provided by MVPDJs
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of signal flow, wireless microphone systems, and RF management
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and stand for long periods
- Troubleshooting: Quick, calm, and efficient problem-solving skills during live, high-pressure situations
- Communication: Strong verbal skills to interact with performers, stage managers, and the A1
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Excellent time management skills
- Personable with strong teamwork abilities
- Must have your own means of reliable transportation
- Willingness to work weekends
- Willing and able to work in a positive team environment
- Must have a valid state driver's license
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to bend and reach overhead
- Experience with sound equipment and live event production required
