We are seeking an exceptional music copyist / engraver for professional contemporary choral and orchestral projects. Work is available immediately, with potential for ongoing assignments.
This position requires much more than proficiency with notation software. We are looking for someone who has a deep understanding of music, works quickly and accurately, and can make intelligent notation and engraving decisions with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Expert-level proficiency in Sibelius
- Near-expert knowledge of choral music and choral notation
- Extensive familiarity with complex SATB writing, divisi, and contemporary choral music
- Excellent music-reading and score-reading skills
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong professional engraving, formatting, and layout judgment
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under short deadlines
Orchestration skills and experience preparing orchestral scores and parts are a significant plus.
Sibelius is required because some assignments involve continuing and revising existing Sibelius scores, in addition to preparing new material.
Schedule
Freelance and remote. Hours will vary by project. Current project work is underway, and availability to begin in the near term is preferred.
Compensation
$35–$55/hour, depending on experience.
