Job Summary
Somerset Academy South Miami is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated K–5 Music Teacher to join our school community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education and the ability to create engaging, age-appropriate experiences that help elementary students develop confidence, creativity, and an appreciation for music.
The Music Teacher will provide high-quality instruction across grades K–5 while creating a positive and structured classroom environment. This position also plays an important role in bringing our school community together through student performances, celebrations, and special events throughout the year.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction for students in grades K–5.
- Provide students with opportunities to explore singing, rhythm, movement, instruments, music appreciation, and performance.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment with clear expectations and strong classroom management.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
- Encourage creativity, participation, collaboration, and confidence in all students.
- Plan, organize, and prepare students for school performances, concerts, celebrations, and special events.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, administration, and other members of the school community.
- Maintain appropriate lesson plans, grades, attendance, and other required documentation.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administration.
- Care for and maintain classroom instruments, equipment, and music resources.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Florida teaching certification or eligibility for certification preferred.
- Previous classroom teaching experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school, music program, private instruction, camp, church, community organization, or similar setting is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of music and the ability to provide engaging instruction in areas such as vocal music, rhythm, movement, and age-appropriate instruments.
- Ability and enthusiasm to organize and lead student performances and school musical events.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, faculty, and administration.
- Enthusiastic, dependable, creative, and committed to providing students with a positive and engaging music experience.

Pay: $53,250.00 - $70,000.00 per year
