Our Audio Engineers / offstage DJ play a major role in the flow, energy, and overall experience of every event. From playing the correct competition music at exactly the right moment to keeping audio levels consistent, making announcements, and bringing energy to awards ceremonies, this position is at the center of the show.
This role is perfect for someone who is technically confident, quick-thinking, organized, comfortable on a microphone, and able to stay calm while managing the fast pace of a live event.
What You'll Do
As an Audio Engineer / DJ, you'll be responsible for operating the audio system throughout the competition while working closely with the Event Director, Backstage Manager, Tabulator, Judges, Production Team, and other Tour Team members to keep the show moving smoothly and on time.
Depending on the event, you may also serve as the Emcee, introducing routines, making announcements, interacting with the audience, and helping create the high-energy atmosphere we want dancers and families to experience.
At select events, this position may also assist with operating predetermined stage lighting cues.

- Introduce routines and make announcements with a clear, enthusiastic, and professional voice when assigned.
- Help maintain the personality and energy of the event without distracting from the dancers onstage.
- Communicate missing, incorrect, or problematic music immediately to the appropriate team members.
- Work closely with backstage and tabulation when performance order changes, routines are scratched, or the show is placed on hold.
- Run audio for awards ceremonies from start to finish.
- Assist with predetermined lighting cues when required.
- Toggle between performance, transition, and awards lighting cues when assigned.
- Troubleshoot audio issues quickly and professionally.
- Adapt audio setups and signal flow to accommodate different venues and technical environments.

What Tour Life Looks Like
This is not a traditional Monday–Friday audio position. Our events primarily take place on weekends and may include travel, early mornings, late nights, long event days, and working in a different venue from one weekend to the next.
Every venue is different, and live events don't always go exactly according to plan. Our Audio Engineers need to be able to problem-solve, adapt, communicate, and keep the show moving without allowing the audience to see what's happening behind the scenes.
You'll also have an opportunity to help create the personality of our events. Whether you're introducing the next routine, keeping the audience engaged between performances, or bringing excitement to an awards ceremony, your energy helps shape the experience in the room.
Our Tour Team works hard, supports one another, and has a lot of fun along the way.

At True Talent Events, we believe every dancer and teacher who walks through our doors should feel welcomed, supported, respected, and seen.
Our mission is simple:
Create. Motivate. Educate.
The music, announcements, transitions, and energy in the room all contribute to that experience. Our Audio Engineers / Emcees make sure the technical side of the show feels effortless so our dancers can focus on what matters most—taking the stage and performing.
If you're ready to bring your technical knowledge, personality, problem-solving skills, and positive energy on the road with us, we'd love to hear from you.
