Music Therapist / Adaptive Music Instructor — Part-Time Contract
Hit Me With Music LLC is seeking a qualified Music Therapist and/or Adaptive Music Instructor to join our provider network for a part-time contract opportunity serving a client in Jersey City, NJ.
The initial assignment involves providing individualized in-home music sessions for one child. We are looking for someone who has experience working with children with disabilities and can create engaging, individualized musical experiences based on the child's needs, interests, and abilities.
This is a flexible contract opportunity that may be a great fit for a music therapist, music educator, adaptive music instructor, or other qualified music professional looking for part-time work. While the initial assignment is for one client, providers who are a good fit may be considered for additional Hit Me With Music assignments as new opportunities become available.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized in-home music therapy or adaptive music instruction based on your qualifications and the client's needs.
- Adapt musical activities, instruments, and instruction to support the child's abilities, interests, communication style, and learning needs.
- Create a positive, engaging, and supportive session environment.
- Communicate professionally with parents/caregivers regarding scheduling and relevant session updates.
- Maintain appropriate session documentation based on the type of service being provided.
- Communicate with Hit Me With Music regarding scheduling, client needs, and ongoing service delivery.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience working with children with disabilities.
- Strong musical skills and the ability to adapt activities to different abilities and learning styles.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to the client's home in Jersey City/Hudson County for scheduled sessions.
- Professional, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a client's home.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
For Music Therapy assignments:
- Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) preferred/required, depending on assignment.
For Adaptive Music Instruction assignments:
- Experience providing adaptive or special-needs music instruction preferred.
- Relevant music education, performance, or teaching experience.
Location
Jersey City / Hudson County, NJ
Candidates who live in or near Jersey City, Hoboken, Union City, North Bergen, Bayonne, Newark, Kearny, Harrison, or surrounding areas are encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to candidates who are located within a reasonable commuting distance of the service location and can reliably travel to scheduled in-home sessions.
The exact client location will be provided to qualified candidates.
