Join our worship team at Crawford Memorial United Methodist Church community as a Church Musician, where your musical talents will inspire worship and uplift spirits. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to lead congregational singing, coordinate musical performances, and collaborate with church leadership to create an engaging worship experience. Whether you’re skilled in traditional hymns, contemporary worship music, or a blend of genres, your expertise will be vital in shaping the musical atmosphere of our services.
Responsibilities
- To liaise with the Worship Committee and attend the quarterly meetings and as needed.
- To provide music personally or by arranging for guest musicians.
- To plan and organize music for services in consultation with Pastor and Worship Coordinators.
- Choose choir music for each service that is in keeping with the theme for the service.
- Train all choirs/soloists to sing in parts.
- Develop/work with Praise team to lead Praise and Worship.
- To research new music and collect materials for Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week and Easter.
- To lead choral activities in Worship services.
- Rehearse with musicians/choirs/soloists and participate in special holidays/events as directed by the Pastor and Worship Coordinators.
- To ensure compliance with copyright laws and licenses.
- To accompany choir as needed in off-site activities.
- To advise Staff Parish Relations Committee of any maintenance for all musical instruments.
- To promote the musical abilities of the church community.
- To provide music for weddings and funerals as needed.
- To attend staff meetings as needed.
Experience
- Proven experience performing religious music in a liturgical or church setting, demonstrating a deep understanding of hymnody and spiritual repertoire.
- Ability to harmonize melodies and blend different musical styles seamlessly for a rich worship atmosphere.
- Experience with Church music.
- Ability to play the organ and piano.
- Competence in choral conducting.
- Ability to accompany, teach and incorporate new songs into the church community.
- Organizational skills.
- Team building skills.
- Strong communication skills.
